CHIROTA Project 2015 Summarized Activity Report
(1 January to 31 December)

On behalf of CHIROTA Elderly Neighbors Goodwill Project in Ethiopia, Inc. and its Board of Directors, I would like to extend my greetings to you our supporters and your families!!

I.  Introduction

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I submit to you the 2015 Summarized Activity Report of CHIROTA Project. In 2015, 18 elderly households (23 people) have received full assistance. The main activities were:
  • Providing two meals a day;
  • Give monthly pocket money for rent, utility, cooking gas & Mutual Association (EDIR);
  • Provide medical assistance and counseling;
  • Make their dwellings livable;
  • Provide cleaning assistance as needed;
  • Visit the Elders frequently to avoid loneliness and to check on their health conditions.

II.  Food

In 2015, there was no major problem encountered regarding Food. The Beneficiaries enthusiastically confirmed the good quality of the Injera and the food ingredients.  They further expressed that they had received all items on time and as scheduled.

III.  Monthly Pocket Money

The Beneficiaries have confirmed receiving the monthly pocket money on time and as budgeted.  They also informed us that they used the money as advised.

IV. General Physical and Mental Conditions

In 2015, few Beneficiaries were taken to Clinics to get treatment. Although most of the Beneficiaries have pains and aches; eye-sight problems and bedridden, they are not willing to go to see doctors. However, they are grateful for the opportunity we are offering to them. The health report of all Beneficiaries is available to Donors upon request.

V.  Beneficiaries who passed away in 2015

We are sad to inform you that we have lost four Beneficiaries in 2015. Let them rest in peace!!

VI.  Shelters & Clothing, Bedding

In 2015, all current Beneficiaries’ dwellings were in livable conditions.  The three new Beneficiaries’ dwellings are in good condition too. So we fixed only one new Beneficiary’s roof and wall as well as ceiling and floor covers. In 2015, all Beneficiaries had received soft woolen blankets and shoes. But those who are bid-ridden were given blankets, T-shirts and socks.

VII.   Cleaning Services

This year, cleaning services were not provided to our Beneficiaries due to the availability and willingness of family members and neighbors.

VIII.   Visitation of Beneficiaries

The Volunteers have submitted to me the 2015 Visitation Activities’ Report.  The visitation was done according to the guidelines given and Beneficiaries have confirmed to us. I have also witnessed the closeness of the Volunteers and the Beneficiaries. Like previous years, I had visited the beneficiaries at their dwellings two to three times. In addition, some, who were able to move around, came to the meeting place to discuss some issues privately. In all our discussions, all Beneficiaries’ responses were very positive. They repeatedly expressed their gratitude about the help and affection they get from the Volunteers which created a family atmosphere.

XI.   2015 Financial Statements

All financial expenses were recorded monthly; and quarterly statement was submitted to me.  At the end of 2015, I reviewed the Accounting Ledger, discussed it with Volunteer/Accountant and the Administrator. Now, it is submitted to the Board of Directors for their review.

IX.   Volunteers and Employees

The Volunteers (Administrator, Accountant, and Medical Assistant), the Cook and the Messenger have expressed their willingness to continue assisting CHIROTA Project. I have extended my appreciation to the relentless and thoughtful Volunteers as well as the Cook and the Messenger for taking care of the Elderly People and their dependents with respect and compassion.  Without their firm and devoted performance, it could have been difficult to accomplish the goals and objectives of CHIROTA Project.

X.  Board of Directors

My appreciation goes also to the Board of Directors for their commitment, advice and generous support to reach to the goals and objectives of CHIROTA Project.

XII.   Conclusion

Finally, I wish to inform you that CHIROTA Project activities are being operated according to its Goals and Objectives. Moreover, our Beneficiaries are happy and grateful.  In this regard, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to you, the donors, for your continuous support. It is also my pleasure to report to you that this year we have added five elderly households, some replacing those who passed away.  In total, we are assisting 20 households (25 people).  If you wish to receive detailed report, please let me know. God bless all!!

Warmest regards,
